Pharmaceutical Canada is Going Green

Since Pharmaceutical Canada’s introduction in June 2000, it rapidly evolved to a “must-have and must-read” trusted source of information for our colleagues in Pharmaceutical and Biopharmaceutical industries. All of us at Pharmaceutical Canada are committed to providing our subscribers with the most recent and truthful information available in order to assist the industry professionals and the key decision makers having a better source of information when performing their job function, making purchasing assessment or acquiring services.

We as a nation are ready to go GREEN.

The climate is changing much more rapidly than expected and the human activity is found to be the major cause in many parts of the world. Taking green initiatives has become a respected and expected business practice. Not only does it cut unnecessary costs, it improves productivity through more efficient management of resources as well.

As a result, Pharmaceutical Canada is proud to announce the launch of its paperless electronic magazine that supports green living.

Think of all the magazines serving the Pharmaceutical and Biopharmaceutical Industries that come out every month with some publications weighing in over 1 to 2 pounds of paper. How much paper do you think that is? Let’s say a printed pharmaceutical magazine prints out 100,000 copies of one issue that contains 200 pages (100 pieces of paper). That’s 10,000,000 pieces of paper for just one issue of one magazine that ultimately ends up in the trash.

It is important to know that:

  • 66.1% of the paper that we throw away are magazines and newspapers
  • Paper is the number one material that is thrown away
  • For every 100 pounds of trash we throw away, 35 pounds is paper

As paper decomposes in landfills or is burned in incinerators, chemicals from its inks are released into the environment. Deforestation is occurring at an alarming rate worldwide, particularly in tropical regions. Using paper directly contributes to the harm of the environment via the destruction of one of our most wonderful natural resources; trees.
